Madagascar is widely known for its unique nature with an abundant amount of plants and animals found nowhere else on earth. In fact 90% of all plant and animal species found in Madagascar, including lemurs are endemic. Also called the “eighth continent”, the country is not only diverse by its nature but also for its culture. Madagascar population is composed by 18 ethnic groups, from East African, South-East Asian, Arab, Indian, Chinese and European origins. Each of the many ethnic subgroups in Madagascar adheres to their own set of beliefs, practices and way of life. Nevertheless there are a number of core cultural features that are common throughout the island, creating a strongly unified Malagasy cultural identity.
About The Celebration
In order to promote Madagascar and as part as the celebration of the 58th anniversary of the independence of Madagascar, The Association of Natives of Madagascar In China (ANMC) proudly presents, for the first time: MADAGASCAR DAY. This celebration is an opportunity for all visitors to indulge in the country’s culture through various activities such as dance performances, music, Malagasy cuisine, as well as arts and crafts.
About The ASSOCIATION OF NATIVES OF MADAGASCAR IN CHINA (ANMC)
ANMC is an association founded for the purpose of promoting Madagascar and Malagasy culture while reinforcing friendship and unity between Malagasy people living in China as well as helping the people in need in the island country.
